Cellular Biology of the Basal Ganglia and Motor Disorders.
Dr. Soghomonian's lab includes 1-2 graduate students and a research technician. We maintain active collaborations
with other members in the School of Medicine. In particular, the PI collaborates with members in the department of Pharmacology
and Experimental Therapeutics. One collaboration focuses on the PI's main project on GABA-mediated signaling in the basal ganglia.
Another collaboration focuses on the mechanisms of neurotoxicity of certain drugs of abuse.
Noriko Yamamoto is working on some aspects of GABA-mediated signaling in the basal ganglia of a
rodent model of Parkinson's disease as a graduate student in the lab.
