The Portfolio Committee is a subcommittee of the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology that supports the efforts of the Carnegie Initiative. We have begun by attempting to establish a set of skills and documents that a student should possess when seeking his or her first professional position. This first position could take many different forms, and each student's career goals may require a different portfolio. The members of the Portfolio committee are examining ways in which the Department can help students acquire these skills and document their achievements. One concrete example of a recommendation that is being implemented immediately is that graduate students who participate in teaching will receive individual feedback and written evaluation of their teaching skills.
