Tulay received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Spanish from Bishop's University in Lenoxville, Quebec in 1997. She then pursued a post baccalaureate certificate in Cytology in the scenic Berkshires at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA. She received her certificate in Cytology and became a Board certified cytotechnologist August 1999. She worked as a cytotechnologist for 4 years until she decided to pursue her lifelong passion for teaching the anatomical sciences. Her pursuit led her to Boston University's Vesalius Program which has provided her the opportunity to acquire and develop the teaching skills necessary for the secondary and post secondary education levels.
Tulay currently conducts her research at the Institute for Sexual Medicine with the guidance of her faculty advisor, Dr. Richard Hoyt and her research advisor, Dr. Abdulmaged Traish. Her research interest encompasses investigating the role that sex steroid hormones play in manipulating vaginal epithelium using the normal and diseased rodent animal model.
Tulay was recently awarded a National Science Foundation Teaching Fellowship for 2003-2004. This great opportunity will allow her yet another resource to develop pedagogical teaching methods. She has also been able complete departmental teaching responsibilities which include assuming a teaching assistant role in Medical Gross Anatomy, Dental Gross Anatomy, Medical Histology and Neuroscience. For the upcoming academic year she will be lecturing in Dental Histology and Dental Gross Anatomy.
