Jane Yip obtained her PhD at the University of Newcastle, Australia in 1998. Her thesis title was "Investigation of tachykinin receptors in the guinea-pig brain." From 2001 to 2004 she did postdoctoral work at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis working on in vivo behavioral pharmacology of the descending pain pathway.

In April 2004 Dr. Yip joined the laboratory of Dr Gene Blatt to investigate the neuropathology of autism. She brings to the laboratory expertise in immunocytochemistry and in addition will pursue ligand binding studies in various neurotransmitter systems and in situ hybridization in GABAergic neurotransmission.

For teaching, she is planning to participate in the neuroscience course for medical and graduate students as well as organize and conduct in a graduate course related to neuropathology of developmental disorders.
