Dr. Nandy received his M.D. from Calcutta University and Ph.D. from Emory University in Neuroscience. He has
been a member of the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology since 1976.
Dr. Nandy is one of the principal teachers in the three Medical Gross Anatomy courses at BUSM. He is a senior instructor in the 1st Year Medical Gross Anatomy course and is a co-director in the Advanced Clinical Anatomy course offered each Spring. He is also Director of the Summer Gross Anatomy course that attracts several students from abroad as well as those who are interested in expanding their knowledge of anatomy by serving as prosectors.
Dr. Nandy is an active participant in the Board Review Program at Boston University School of Medicine to help students prepare for the United States Medical Licensing Exam. In addition, Dr. Nandy has been the recipient of several teaching awards including Instructor of the Year in the Pre-Clinical Sciences.
Dr. Nandy is beloved by the student body, and is renowned for his lecture style and breadth of knowledge of human anatomy.
Earlier in his career, he was an active researcher in the field of aging, and has many publications in the field. including one book on aging and dementia.
