| The Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology has 29 core faculty members who are
heavily involved in the research and teaching activities of the Department. Dr. Mark Moss is the
Chairman of the Department, and Dr. Julie Sandell is the Vice-Chairman. We also have 8 postdoctoral
fellows, 30 graduate students, and 5 staff members who serve the entire department. |
| The core faculty members in our Department direct the research labs, courses and
graduate programs that we offer. We also have affiliated faculty members in other departments who
provide research opportunities for our students or participate in our teaching. Our research interests
range from molecular signaling in neurodegeneration to the social-affective deficits in autism. Our
teaching is likewise broad and includes traditional anatomy courses, specialized graduate courses,
and courses in teaching itself. |
| We have 30 students who are pursuing a graduate degree in Anatomy & Neurobiology.
This includes Doctoral, Master's, and M.D./Ph.D students. Each student has a primary advisor in the Department,
as well as the opportunity to pursue research under the sponsorship of our affiliated faculty members. Our
students also have the opportunity to teach. |
| Our postdoctoral fellows have a wide range of previous experience and current interests.
Although their primary goal is to participate intensively in the research of their host laboratory, postdoctoral
fellows in our department have the opportunity to apprentice as instructors and participate in departmental
initiatives of particular interest, such as the Carnegie Initiative for the Doctorate (CID), if they desire. |

| Our administrative office is directed by Ms. Janet Harry, with 3 assistants. Mr. Robert Bouchie
is the director of our Anatomical Gifts program, and is the Laboratory Manager for the Department. Information about
the administrative and technical staff for individual laboratories can be found on the individual lab pages. |
