Practicum Training
Part-time clinical training fellowships are available for qualified students enrolled in graduate programs at Boston University (in Clinical Psychology in the Psychology Department, Counseling Psychology and Religion (CPAR) in the Division of Religious and Theological Studies, or within the School of Social Work). Fellows are trained in assessment and in individual and group or couples/partners therapy with a special emphasis on the interface of psychology, theology/spiritual perspectives. The practicum is based on a reflective practioner model and the trainee will be asked to attend to personal formation as well as knowledge and skill development. Trainees will be asked to reflect upon their personal history and identify as relevant to developing the capacity to work affectively with clients. These programs are intended for Boston University students only.
Two eleven month fellowships are offered: a 10 hour per week program and a 20 hour per week program. The 10 hour fellowship fulfills clinical training requirements in the Clinical Psychology Program at Boston University and is open only to clinical psychology trainees. Please contact the Psychology Department for additional information related to its program requirements. The 20 hour per week fellowship offers a tuition remission for two courses (upon application and acceptance) to students in the Clinical Psychology Program, the Counseling Psychology and Religion Program, and the School of Social work graduate programs. A comparable nine month, 24 hour per week program is also available for candidates from the School of Social Work.
