Secularism and Its Adversaries
Secularism and Its Adversaries, organized and chaired by Senior Research Fellow Peter L. Berger, looks to examine the tension between secularist elites and the national political processes in seven crucial countries or regions: The United States, Western Europe (with particular focus on the challenge of Muslim integration), Russia, China, India, Israel, and Turkey. The project aims to address key policy questions concerning the place of secularism, secularity, and public religion in democratic politics. Products of the project will be a public conference, set for September 10th and 11th, and a volume to be edited by Peter Berger.
