Tuesday, September 15, 2009 – Prof. Robert W. Hefner, Director of The Institute on Culture, Religion and World Affairs at Boston University, will speak on the topic of:
“Multiple Religious Modernities: Comparing Contemporary Islam and Pentecostalism”

Tuesday, September 22-Working Group – Kristen Lucken, will discuss her work in progress:
“Bosnians in Boston: Ethnic Identity Maintenance in a Post-Migration Setting”

Tuesday, October 6 – Prof. Tim Longman, Director African Studies Center at Boston University, will speak on the topic of: “Churches as Political Institutions: The Case of Rwanda”

Tuesday, October 13 – Working Group-Emily Ronald, will discuss her work in progress:
“Reading Together Across Faith Traditions”

Tuesday, November 3 – Miriam Pawel, an award-winning reporter and editor, will be speaking on “The Union of Their Dreams: Religious Activists, Lawyers, Students & Farmworkers in Cesar Chavez’s Farm Worker Movement”

Tuesday, November 10 – in conjunction with the Center for Global Christianity & Mission: screening of the hour-long documentary film African Christianity Rising: Stories from Zimbabwe, with filmmaker Jim Ault

Tuesday, November 17 – Working Group – Veronica Savory McComb, American and New England Studies, will discuss her work in progress: “Forging Bonds: Kinship Networks and Religious Communities among Nigerian Immigrants in the United States”
