Dr. Bruce Tis is a Professor Emeritus at Simmons University. During his tenure there he established the undergraduate Computer Science department, which he chaired for 10 years. He also created an Information Technology major and significantly enhanced the “systems” curriculum. He was solely responsible for teaching computer architecture, operating systems, computer networks, cybersecurity, as well as numerous programming and database courses. He also taught graduate courses in the School of Library and Information Science at Simmons. He has been teaching at Boston University since 1984, both part time and 11 years on the full time faculty, in the computer science department in Metropolitan College. He taught cs201, cs221, cs272, cs301, cs335, cs575, cs535 and cs776. In recent years he has been developing and teaching online courses to include CS200, CS300, CS625 and CS690. His industry experience includes 9 years as a consultant at Digital Equipment Corporation on TOP10 and VMS based systems.
