Data Analyst

We’re looking for an entry level Data Analyst to join our force.  We’d like to find a person with a mind like a sponge, an interest in problem solving, a drive to deliver on time, and a love of logic.  This person will have the chance to develop their MySQL skills with help from their peers, a group of budding MySQL gurus.  He or she will also be exposed to both the on the ground tactics and the long-term strategies employed by a successful data team.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with management of our contact and company database.  This will require occasional interaction with our data quality and content partners and vendors.
• Deal with multi-million record data sets and look for patterns, populations, and relationships.  You must want to find the relationships that others have missed.
• Establish predictive models to reduce data management costs.  This will require an interest in probability, statistics, and random sampling.
• Present findings and recommendations in a meaningful way.  You will need to be able to distill complex data relationships to understandable concepts.
• Occasional project management of our data editorial team.

Requirements:

• Education/background in Math, Engineering, Computer Science
o OR 1-2 years experience working in a related field
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and/or Access
• Experience with MySQL is preferred, though not required.  Interest is required
• Ability to visualize data relationships
• Ability to avoid reporting or analytical bias
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Strong communication skills
• Self starter excited about new and very challenging projects
• Enthusiasm and capacity to learn!
