
Monday, August 25 - Move-In
First-year students move into their permanent residences after 4:00pm. After getting settled, students will meet their Staff Leaders and attend Opening Ceremonies.
Tuesday, August 26 - Education Day
Students break up into their respective groups and spend the day learning about the various aspects of their Issue Areas. Education about the various problems facing our community is one of the most important aspects of FYSOP.
Wednesday, August 27 - Service Day 1
Students venture into the city of Boston for their first day of service
in their Issue Areas. That night, all volunteers will come together
for Program Night, an evening of information and education from a
guest speaker. Past speakers have included: Mayor Thomas Menino and
Teach for America founder Wendy Kopp.
Thursday, August 28- Service Day 2
Students go back into the city for another full day of service. At night, the Coordinators and Staff will run a variety of social events to help the volunteers get to know each other.
Friday, August 29- Service Day 3
Students attend their final day on site. At the end of the day, the volunteers will attend Closing Ceremonies to wrap-up a wonderful week of community service.

FYSOP volunteers are admitted on a rolling admissions basis according to the date applications are received in the Community Service Center. The deadline for applications is Friday, August 1, 2008.
