Boston University -- Computer Science Department CS Connections Event Tuesday, April 16, 2013 5:30 PM MCS 148 Innovation Opportunities at Raytheon Company Gari Palmer Senior Principal Systems Engineer This presentation will provide an overview of numerous innovation initiatives throughout Raytheon. All companies require creative and bleeding edge ideas and implementation of those ideas to solve the tough challenges faced by customers and the market at large. Raytheon has a number of innovation programs and organizations which allow our software and hardware engineers to use their technical expertise, their imaginations, and company resources to solve hard technical problems. More and more, Raytheon is finding it important to focus on software technology as the enabler to solving complex system needs. The innovation challenges and the network of technology-based groups are open to all engineers from Raytheon businesses. Short Bio: Gari Palmer is a Senior Principal Systems Engineer at Raytheon. During her 20+ years at Raytheon she has focused her energies on the synergy of technology, process and tools at the program and organizational levels. She has worked on Weather Radar, Air Traffic Control, Maritime and Land-based Defense systems. Gari helped start numerous corporate level innovation initiatives at Raytheon including Software Innovation for Tomorrow (SWIFT) and Software Factories. As the Information Systems and Computing Technical Area Director, she oversaw software and processing needs across all Raytheon Businesses. Gari is currently leading the Autonomy Enabled Capabilities Core Research Enterprise Campaign. She received her BS Engineering from RPI in 1978 and her MS Computer Science from BU in 1989. * Pizza and refreshments will be served *
