2.6 Prospectus
A dissertation prospectus may not be written until the student has passed all four examinations (three written qualifying examinations and the oral integrative examination) and must follow the format stipulated by the ASC. The prospectus includes a clear and detailed statement of the problem, the significance of the problem, and method to be followed in researching the problem. The document should also include a review of the relevant literature and a bibliography. The School of Theology library is able to provide prospectus samples written by previous students.
Before a prospectus can be submitted to the ASC, it must be approved by the student's first and second readers. The first and second readers are traditionally the student's major and concentration advisors, respectively. There are cases, however, where, by petition, the student may request changes.
