Speaker Bio: Kenneth Duckworth, M.D.

Ken Duckworth, MD is the Medical Director for the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. He has been the Medical Director and Acting Commissioner of Mental Health in Massachusetts and is board certified in child, adolescent, adult and forensic psychiatry. He is an outreach psychiatrist for Westbridge Community Services and is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Duckworth has won awards from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and the Mass Psychiatric Society Award for Clinical Excellence.

Dr. Duckworth has been active in galvanizing the state medical directors to look at the issue of premature mortality. He is working with the state medical directors to formally write a position paper on health promotion. He also developed the NAMI educational program Hearts and Minds highlighting consumers who have made lifestyle changes to reduce their risk.
