The Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Boston University, in collaboration with Christine Grace and Community, is pleased to announce the offering of a Canadian version of their Certificate Program in Psychiatric Vocational Rehabilitation (PVR-Canada).

Psychiatric Vocational Rehabilitation (PVR) is an approach to employment support that is grounded in over thirty years of development and research at Boston University.   PVR aims to support individuals to consider, choose, get, and keep the competitive employment and educational roles and settings of their choice.  This intensive competency-development training is designed to enhance the skills, tools and knowledge base of employment and educational support providers.

What is PVR Canada?

The Boston University Certificate Program in Psychiatric Vocational Rehabilitation –  PVRCanada is intended to enhance Canadian employment support services for people recovering their mental health and well-being.  Reflecting the Canadian context, PVRCanada will add information, skills, and tools; building on service providers’ current practice.  PVRCanada offers key information and resources, intensive skill training as well as tools to facilitate employment and educational support.

Who should participate in PVR Canada?
Vocational rehabilitation providers, employment support specialists, supported employment personnel, mental health providers, case managers, peer specialists, and other providers who serve people with psychiatric disabilities as they consider, choose, get, and keep work and/or education, should consider taking this class.

PVRCanada is now being offered in a Modularized Training format, with two participation options:

Workshop Participation*:  Attendees take part in two-day dynamic and practical skills training sessions.  You may decide to join us for one, several, or all six training sessions offered in the series.  For one low cost, workshop participants will receive the two-day training session, all workshop materials and references.  A Certificate of Attendance and lunch/refreshments are provided.

Certificate Participation:  The PVR Certificate is comprised of six Modules in total.  Certificate participants register for each of the six training sessions and accompanying practical application assignments, with the goal of eligibility for the Certificate in Psychiatric Vocational Rehabilitation.
