LeRoy Spaniol, Ph.D., has retired as Senior Director at the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation. He holds a doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and has 35 years of experience in the mental health field as counselor, advocate, program developer, administrator, and educator. Dr. Spaniol was the Executive Publisher of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal, and taught as an adjunct professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling. He also taught in the Recovery Center, a rehabilitation program for people with psychiatric disabilities. Dr. Spaniol was a project director on a Center research project on recovery from psychiatric disabilities. He served on the Board of NAMI of Massachusetts, as well as the Board of St. Francis House, a day program for people who are homeless.
Online Seminar Description
Participants will learn the basic principles of writing a journal article. The seminar activities and handouts will guide participants through the process of sketching out a article for journal publication. This seminar will provide new skills for people who wish to write a journal article in their areas of expertise and experience.
The skills involved in writing a journal article are applicable for consumers and families, direct services staff, and management staff. Participants will be introduced to both the general principles and essential steps of planning, writing, and submitting a journal article for publication. The activities and examples will guide participants through the process of sketching out a journal article of their own. This seminar will include the use of visual materials to enhance learning and interaction.
It is anticipated that seminar participants will achieve the following goals:
- Participants will be able to list the basic steps of writing a journal article.
- Participants will sketch out an outline for a journal article.
All materials and handouts are included with the course registration fee. These materials are available for download in accessible formats.
