Format:
Each PDP Internet Course and Online Seminar will be similar in format as seen
in PDP 101. Some components of the PDP Internet Courses and Online Seminars
are open to the public, while other components are password protected for
registered students. The following components are included in most PDP Internet
Courses and Online Seminars:
Course
Outline Page: This page is open to the public,
and has general information about each course or seminar offered by the
Professional Development Program. On this page you will find the course
title, course description, course goals, required texts with links for
where to find and purchase these texts, instructor name, and a link to
instructor profile. For example, refer to the PDP
101 Course Outline page.
Instructor
Profile: Also open to the public, this page allows
present and potential PDP students to better understand the approach of
the instructor by finding out the instructor's background, experience,
and professional interests.
Course
Syllabus: This page, which is password protected (except
for PDP 101), lists all the lectures and the topics within the lectures
to allow easy accessing and placekeeping for students. Whenever a student
logs into a particular PDP Internet Course or Online Seminar, he/she will
begin at the course's index page, for example, you can view the course
syllabus for PDP 101. In addition, the side navigation information
on the right-hand side of every page shows an abbreviated version of the
course syllabus so that you can navigate easily between each of the lecture
pages and stay focused on where you are in the course. This can save valuable
time if you know exactly where you are going within a lecture.
Lecture
pages: The lecture pages, which are password protected,
contain the course content. The number of lectures
varies up to the discretion of the instructor. Individual lectures may
vary from one to several pages in length. Usually each lecture page represents
a different lecture topic.
Additional
Readings/Websites of Interest: Additional readings and references
of related websites, which are password protected, may be posted
to augment the course readings and lecture material.
