purpose of the Mental Health & Rehabilitation eCast is to inform mental health and rehabilitation networks worldwide
about Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation events and publications,
as well as general mental health and rehabilitation news. The
development and dissemination of this eCast is jointly supported
by the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), Substance Abuse
and Mental Health Services Administration and the National Institute
on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), Department
of Education.

SPRING 2005 WORKSHOPS
The Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation is hosting the
following four workshops on April 11-14, 2005: “How to
incorporate recovery values into evidence-based practice,” “Training Professionals to Work with Families,” “The
Many Faces
of Resilience,” and “Professional and Consumer Organizations:
Friends or Foes? Practical Steps to Develop Meaningful
Partnerships.” All workshops will be held on the Boston

UIC WEBCAST ON HOW TO FIND EMPLOYMENT
Listen in to the University of Illinois at Chicago, National
Research and Training Center's archived webcast "Put Yourself
in the Driver's Seat: Getting on the Road to Self-Employment
or
a Job That's Right for You." The webcast produced on
November 16, 2004, is geared towards people who are ready to
work, but are not sure how to get started. The sessions address
how to begin thinking about using one's talents in getting
a
job or starting a business. Highlights include using the Internet
as an employment resource, finding the right job, getting help
for starting a business venture, and developing a business
plan.
Emphasis is on people with mental health disabilities, but
anyone
interested in work and entrepreneurship will find useful
information in these three sessions. The UIC NRTC is funded
by

ANNOUNCING A NEW CENTER FOR CAPACITY BUILDING ON MINORITIES
WITH
DISABILITIES RESEARCH
The Center for Capacity Building on Minorities with Disabilities
Research (CCBMDR) at the University of Illinois at Chicago
was
created to increase the capacity of State Vocational
Rehabilitation Agencies and community-based organizations to develop
culturally competent services. In order to promote
positive rehabilitation outcomes for minority individuals with
disabilities, the Center proposes to develop long-term
relationships with agencies, conduct participatory research
and
demonstration projects, engage in active dissemination efforts,
and provide state-of-the-art training and technical assistance
to professionals and researchers in the field. The Center is
funded by the National Institute on Disability and
