SELF-DETERMINATION BOOKLETS FOR PEOPLE WITH PSYCHIATRIC
DISABILITIES
The
University of Illinois at Chicago National Research and Training
Center on Psychiatric Disability (UIC NRTC) is pleased to announce
the availability of two new Self-Determination Tools for people
with psychiatric disabilities. The booklets "Seeking Supported
Employment" and "Raising Difficult Issues with Your
Service Provider" enable individuals to enhance control and
decision-making in the services they receive. These booklets are
available for free or at replacement cost. For more information

The
UIC NRTC also announces its Online Survey about Mental Health

RECOVERY EDUCATION RESOURCE NEWSLETTER
The
latest issue of the Recovery & Rehabilitation Newsletter highlights
three different widely used recovery education resources that
have been successfully adapted by many consumers in their recovery
process. These resources include “Pathways to Recovery:
A Strengths Recovery Self-Help Workbook” by Priscilla Ridgeway,
Diane McDiarmid, Lori Davidson, and Julie Bayes, “The Wellness
Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)” by Mary Ellen Copeland, “The
Recovery Workbook I” by LeRoy Spaniol, Martin Koehler, and
Dori Hutchinson, and “The Recovery Workbook II” by
LeRoy Spaniol, Richard Bellingham, Barry Cohen, and Susan Spaniol.
The newsletter includes a brief description of each resource and

NEW SELF-PACED STUDY OPTION FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAM
The
Professional Development Program (PDP) now offers a reading and
testing format, using issues of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation
Journal published by the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation
and the International Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
Services. Test questions have been developed from each article
beginning with the Fall 2003 issue of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation
Journal. Registration for each Journal test costs $25.00, and
successful completion of the test earns 5 PDP hours to be used
for continuing education purposes. For More information contact
