NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS TEAM UP FOR RECOVERY WEBCAST
As
part of National Mental Illness Awareness Week on October 5-11,
2003, the Center for Reintegration, The American Academy of Family
Physicians (AAFP), The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill
(NAMI), and The National Mental Health Association (NMHA) invite
you to participate in a live webcast “The Physician/Consumer
Partnership: Paving the Road to Recovery.” The webcast will
focus on how health care professionals of all fields can actively
foster recovery and reintegration for persons with serious mental

MENTORING PROGRAM NEWSLETTER
The
latest issue of the Recovery & Rehabilitation Newsletter
highlights the Jump Start initiative, a mentoring program for
young adults with psychiatric disabilities. Funded by the
Rehabilitation Services Administration, Jump Start is
addressing the recovery and vocational needs of the
participating youth as they transition from school to higher
education or to employment. The newsletter includes a
description of the Jump Start program, reflections from
participants, as well as mentoring and transition resources.

NEW BOOK AUTHORED BY ROBERT GARY NEUGEBOREN
Robert
Neugeboren’s story was first told in “Imaging Robert”
an award-winning book written by this brother Jay. In this new
volume “The Hillside Diary and Other Writings”, Robert
shares his diary and selected letters and poems over a period
of many hospitalizations. Robert’s story gives a vivid,
personal perspective of psychiatric treatment along with his family’s
struggle to overcome the frustrations of living with mental illness.
The publication date is January 2004 with advance orders currently
