SAMHSA MANUAL AIDS GRANT APPLICANTS
In
an effort to provide grant applicants with the guidance
needed to prepare competitive federal grant applications, the
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
(SAMHSA) released the manual, “Developing Competitive SAMHSA
Grant Applications: A Participant Manual.” The manual, designed
to help all potential applicants including community
and faith-based organizations, can be used in workshop settings

MENTAL HEALTH PARITY LEGISLATION ARTICLE AVAILABLE FOR
FREE DOWNLOAD

can make a difference in the lives of people living with
mental illness by better understanding the laws and
limitations associated with their health and mental health
insurance benefits and coverage limits. The article “The
Current and Future State of Mental Health Parity Legislation”
published
in the Summer 2003 issue of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation
Journal highlights both federal and state laws and explains why
federal action to expand the Mental Health Parity Act and
remove the disparity in insurance coverage is so critical to

NEW! PRACTITIONER TOOLS FOR CHOOSING VALUED ROLES
The
Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner Tools for Choosing
Valued Roles is now available. Choosing Valued Roles involves
setting goals in residential, educational, vocational, and
social settings. These Practitioner Tools include activity
descriptions, protocols, examples, worksheets, and checklists
for practitioners to use to facilitate the process of Choosing
Valued Roles. These very practical and “hands on”
materials
were developed by the Center’s affiliate organization, BCPR
