REHABILITATION AWARDS CEREMONY
The
Certificate Program in Psychiatric Vocational Rehabilitation celebrated
the graduation of its fifth class on July 18, 2003. The Rehabilitation
Services Administration Commissioner, Joanne Wilson, joined in
the celebration as keynote speaker, inspiring graduates, staff
and guests alike. Due to popular demand, the deadline for applications

JOB ACCOMMODATION NETWORK TRAINING SYMPOSIUM
The
Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is sponsoring a training symposium
September 22-23, 2003 in Rosslyn, VA entitled "Work Site
Accommodations: A Symposium for Employers" designed for human
resource managers, trainers and other professionals who have responsibility
for the hiring and management of employees. JAN consultants and
invited presenters will provide focused, concise answers to questions
that confront employers related to recruiting, hiring and advancement
for employees with disabilities as well as what the laws mandate
related to hiring, retaining and promoting individuals with disabilities.

ONLINE SURVEY ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH & PERSONAL CHOICE
The
National Research and Training Center on Psychiatric
Disability at the University of Illinois at Chicago is
conducting an anonymous survey of people who have used mental
health services or have experienced emotional or mental health
problems. The focus of the study is to learn how much control
this group of individuals has over their lives and important life
decisions, such as where they live, what kind of work they do,
and how they spend their money as well as the role of computers
and the Internet in their lives. To learn more about this research
study and to complete the survey access the following link:

DOCUMENTARY FOCUSES ON CRITICAL MENTAL ILLNESS ISSUES
“West
47th Street” is a PBS documentary focusing on four
individuals struggling to recover from serious mental illness
as they deal with drug regimens, health issues, group homes,
and work programs. This documentary follows each person over a
three-year span and offers a unique perspective into their lives.
The program will air on Tuesday August 19th at
