EXCITING TRAINING OPPORTUNITY!
The
Certificate Program in Psychiatric Vocational Rehabilitation,
winner of the 2002 RSA Commissioner's Award for Excellence
in Training and Education, is now accepting applications for
a
class beginning in September. This 72-hour training program is
for practitioners who provide vocational services to people with
psychiatric disabilities. The program offers coursework and "hands
on" experience related to rehabilitation readiness,
vocational assessment and placement and meeting the needs of
culturally diverse service recipients. For more information

STUDY FINDINGS: PEOPLE WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS
USE ALTERNATIVE HEALTH CARE TO AID RECOVERY
A
recent study conducted by the Center for Psychiatric
Rehabilitation found that people with serious mental illnesses
support their recovery by using at least one alternative health
care practice, such as yoga, meditation, or prayer. Study
findings are published in a recent 2002 issue of the American

RECOVERY WORKSHOP ONLINE REGISTRATION AVAILABLE
Registration
for the workshop entitled "How to Lead The
Recovery Workbook II: Connectedness - Some Skills for
Personal Growth" is now available online. The workshop will
be held Friday, June 6, 2003 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on
the Boston University campus. A workshop flyer is available
in acrobat format. Accessing this flyer will allow you to
download a file to email as an attachment to colleagues. Save
the date for a Latino workshop to be held on June 10, 2003
on the Boston University campus.

CO-OCCURRING DISORDERS WEBCAST ARCHIVED &
AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD
The
webcast entitled "When Addiction and Mental Disorders
Co-Occur" is now available for download. Drug and alcohol
dependence, or mental disorders alone, can wreak havoc on the
lives of millions in this country. When afflicted with these
diseases simultaneously, the result can be even more
debilitating for an individual. This webcast also examines the
issues and promising practices associated with treating
individuals with co-occurring and co-existing disorders and is
sponsored by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, SAMHSA,
