Research Mission

The mission of the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) was to develop and evaluate new knowledge for the field of psychiatric rehabilitation in order to help persons with long-term mental illness in their recovery process.

Areas of Concentration

The priorities set forth by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research and the Center for Mental Health Services(1) in the Federal Register directed this RRTC toward discovering facilitators and barriers to recovery, and specifically, environmental and individual factors that had an impact on recovery, as well as traditional and alternative interventions that promoted recovery. RRTC research projects were organized into three main areas:
