Workshop on Audiotape: Integrated Treatment of Dual Disorders with Kim Mueser
Featuring Dr. Kim Mueser, PhD, Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and
Community and Family Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School
The Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Boston University is offering an audio taped workshop complete with related materials, conducted by Dr. Kim Mueser, based on a workshop held at Boston University.
What is the Workshop About?
Effective treatment for those with dual disorders necessitates integrated care in which both disorders are dealt with at the same time by the same clinicians and both disorders are viewed as primary. This workshop focuses on the components of interfaced treatments; how interventions can be modified to match each client's motivational level for changing his or her behavior and individuals, groups, and family interventions for treating these disorders.
Who Can Benefit?
This workshop is for people interested in developing a better understanding of, and effective treatment for, individuals with dual disorders. This can include service providers from the field of mental health, physical health, and rehabilitation, researchers, consumers, and family members.
What Can You Gain From the Materials?
Listeners using these materials will develop an understanding of the role of substance abuse in the lives of those with severe mental illnesses and of the rehabilitation strategies for helping clients develop new and effective ways of getting their needs met. They will also learn specific strategies for treating dual disorders, with an emphasis on instilling and harnessing motivation in clients to work on these behaviors.
