The University partners with the for-profit sector in several different ways and for a variety of reasons. Please contact us to learn more about any of the following kinds of support your company or corporation would like to extend to Boston University.
Sponsored research: Boston University's research resources represent many unique opportunities for corporations to answer questions critical to the success of their businesses and the needs of consumers. In fiscal year 2006, Boston University's total sponsored research expenditures reached $325.8 million, a new high for the University. More than 1,600 externally funded research programs were active in 2006 in a range of fields, including astronomy, biology, cardiology, chemistry, cognitive and neural systems, genetics, geography, infectious diseases, and psychology.
In-kind gifts of equipment and software: Donations of needed equipment, supplies and software, and subscriptions can provide significant benefits to the University's academic and service programs.
Support for student scholarships and faculty chairs: Support for student scholarships and faculty chairs strengthens the University's ability to offer access regardless of financial need-and thereby raise its academic standards-and is an ideal way to connect with some of the best undergraduate and graduate students and top faculty experts in the country.
Support for buildings and laboratories: Support of this kind enables the University to strengthen and advance a vital infrastructure. Companies that want to make permanent and highly visible contributions to the University can consider unique naming opportunities for research labs, academic centers, or separate campus buildings. The University publicly acknowledges major donations of capital support through dedications.
Matching gift programs: These programs help alumni employees leverage their support for the University through restricted or unrestricted gifts. The University receives matching gifts from hundreds of corporations every year.
Recruiting relationships: The University has several means of assisting businesses who wish to gain access to BU graduating students.
