Graphical Headings

The BU Core Design employs graphical headings at the top of content regions on all pages. This is a way to present content headings with a more polished look than plain-text headings. Graphical headings are appropriate for top-level, second-level, high-profile and high-traffic pages.

example primary and secondary content headingsContent Headings: The BU Core Design features two sizes of graphical content headings. A primary content heading and a secondary content heading. Both graphical headings use the same font, but at different sizes. This font only uses uppercase letterforms, so uppercase letters appear slightly larger while lowercase letters still look like capital letters but are actually a bit smaller in size.

example feature heading, with linksFeature Heading: The BU Core Design also features graphical headings for featured page regions. Feature headings are usually found on a site's home page, and may include a set of links immediately to the right of the heading that link to feature-related content.

example content navigation headingContent Navigation Heading: Pages in the BU Core Design that utilize a content navigation menu in the column along the right side of the page also use graphical headings for the content navigation menu. This heading distinquishes the links as a navigational unit, and the heading graphic itself also serves as a link back to the home page for that specific category of pages.
