The Calliope Project

Calliope is the student theater troupe of the Core Curriculum, whose members put up at least one mainstage show each year, and a scene festival in the fall.

Schedule for the 2011-2 Academic Year

  • September 16th: pitches due for the scene festival
  • September 21: Scene festival auditions, 7-9 PM in CAS 323A-B
  • September 22: Scene festival auditions, 7-9 PM in CAS 324-6
  • September 23: Scene festival auditions, 7-9 PM in CAS B25A-B
  • October 21: Fall 2011 Calliope Scene Festival, 7-9 PM in CAS 522

In its first three years, Calliope has put up productions of HamletTitus Andronicus, and Cyrano de Bergerac, to sold-out houses and enthusiastic reviews. The scene festivals have featured Shakespeare-inspired raps and other creative acts.

If you are interested in acting, directing, stage managing, or teching for our shows, contact the members by email or through Facebook to find out how to get involved.

The Calliope officers would like to acknowledge Profs. David Green and Kyna Hamill, for their invaluable theatrical and institutional guidance; and to thank the Distinguished Teaching Professorship for that program’s financial support.
