  12 Core in the City explores the Harbor Islands
The expedition will meet at the Aquarium T Stop at 10:15 AM and take the boat to Georges Island at 11:00 AM, there to tour historic Fort Warren, a 19th-century granite stronghold. A hike will follow, along the trails of either Spectacle or Lovells Island. Professor Alex Coverdill will be in attendance, to discuss bird migration. Plan on returning home around 4:30 PM. Students are asked to pay only $5, for the boat trip and lunch. Sign up in CAS 119.

A reading and discussion of the poetry of Rudaki, whose writings Prof. Sassan Tabatabai has recently translated and published in Father of Songs: Rudaki and his Poetry (Purdue University Press, 2008). Free and open to the public; a reception will follow. At 147 Bay State Road, beginning at 6 PM.
