The V.90 Protocol

In early 1998, modem manufacturers decided upon a new 56K modem standard called V.90. All modems produced since that time should meet the V.90 modem standard.

You can check your modem packaging or the modem itself to see if the modem uses the V.90 standard or is V.90 upgradable. For more information about your modem, you can visit the external site 56k.com, which has links to many modem company Web sites.
