The
Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights is a coordinated
effort of the Boston Medical Center and the Schools of Medicine,
Public Health, Law, and Social Work, to serve refugees and survivors
of torture in a comprehensive, multidisciplinary manner. The combined
strength of the academic and medical facilities allows a multifaceted
approach to care that is beneficial to the refugees and those who
assist them.
The
String Training and Education Program (Project STEP) offers
musical training to gifted Boston-area minority students. It is
a collaborative effort of the Music Division at the School for the
Arts, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Greater Boston Youth
Symphony Orchestra.
Faculty
and graduate students of the Department of Archaeology (College
of Arts and Sciences) often visit public schools in Boston and the
metropolitan area to develop awareness of the importance of understanding
past cultures and preserving the world's cultural heritage. The
Center for Archaeological Studies sponsors lectures that are open
to the public and publishes the newsletter Context.
Boston

of educational, charitable, and human service organizations. In
FY 1999, University employees contributed more than $160,000 to
