Occupational
therapy students run A Matter of Balance, an eight-session
intervention program designed to help older people reduce the risk
of fall-related injury and decrease their fear of falling. Introduced
in 1998 by the Brookline Department of Public Health, the program
is offered twice a year at a senior housing residence. Originally
developed by Sargent's Center for the Enhancement of Late-Life Function,
the program has been successfully implemented by senior centers,
hospitals, and home care agencies.
