Now
in its thirtieth year, the Boston High School Scholars Program
was inaugurated by former president John Silber as part of the University's
continuing commitment to the City of Boston. The program annually
awards four-year, full-tuition scholarships to graduating seniors
from Boston's public high schools. Recipients are selected on the
basis of their academic achievement and motivation.
In
May 2002, fifty scholarships were awarded to students from fourteen
schools. Over a period of four years, the total value of these scholarships
will exceed $4 million. Since 1973, the program has provided more
than $88 million in scholarships to more than fourteen hundred and
fifty students.

The
Cardinal Medeiros Scholarship Program, founded in 1987, recognizes
a select number of outstanding graduating seniors of greater Boston's
Archdiocesan high schools. Medeiros Scholars are chosen for their
academic achievement, demonstrated leadership skills, and contributions
to their schools and communities.
Boston
University's commitment to the program is substantial. Since its
inception, more than 255 scholarships have been awarded, representing
a contribution of nearly $17.7 million to the Boston area.
