Disability Services

We make sure as many Commencement Weekend activities as possible are accessible to all who wish to attend. While the Disability Accomodations form has closed, if you need additional assistance, contact Disability Services at 617-353-3658.

Those requesting a Designated Accessible Parking Permit after Tuesday, May 5 must pick up the Accessible Parking Permit at the Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) office. The PTS office is located at 1019 Commonwealth Avenue and is open weekdays from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.

All-University Commencement

Parking

Parking requests for the All-University Commencement have closed. If you need additional assistance, contact Disability Services at 617-353-3658.  Please note that this parking is reserved for guests that require wheelchair accessibility to Nickerson Field.  Guests with other mobility issues should contact Parking & Transportation Services for additional information.

Seating

Accessible seating  is available during the All-University Commencement at Nickerson Field and at the school and college convocations. Field level seating arrangements for guests requiring wheelchair accessibility and/or guests that require CART or Sign Language Service are available.

For guests with limited mobility, reserved seating at the east end of Nickerson Field will be available.  Ushers will be happy to direct you.

Individual Accommodation

Sign language and CART interpreters and other special accommodations are available to individuals with disabilities during  the All-University Commencement.

Individual School/College Convocations

Parking

Handicapped parking is available in all parking lots throughout the Charles River Campus on a first-come, first-served basis to students and guests who are attending individual school and college ceremonies and other Commencement events.

Seating

Accessible seating is available during all commencement convocations. 

Individual Accommodation

Sign language and CART interpreters and other special accommodations can be made for convocation ceremonies.

Wheelchair Availability

BU provides a limited number of wheelchairs for the All-University Commencement Sunday, May 17. These are available first-come, first-served from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Disability Services tent by the Case Center at 285 Babcock Street. Borrowed wheelchairs must be returned to the tent immediately following the ceremony.

While we can’t provide wheelchairs at other times during Commencement Weekend, a number of local providers offer rentals. We recommend the following:
