 
Michael E. Capuano, U.S. Representative from the Massachusetts Eighth Congressional District, delivered the 136th Commencement address. Rev. Dr. Gloria E. White-Hammond, pediatrician and co-pastor of Boston’s Bethel AME Church, gave the Baccalaureate address. Others who received honorary degrees during the All-University Commencement Exercises were: J Allard, senior vice president at Microsoft Corporation; basketball great and current president of basketball operations for the Indiana Pacers Larry J. Bird; University Trustee Alan M. Leventhal, chairman and chief executive officer of Beacon Capital; Steven Spielberg, famed filmmaker and a principal owner of DreamWorks Studios.
