Notice of your graduation, your degree(s), major(s), and any Latin honors will be sent to your hometown or community newspaper by the Office of Public Relations. The newspaper(s) selected are those whose readership area includes the zip code of your official home address listed with the Office of the University Registrar.
This Hometown News release will be sent automatically for all degree recipients who have authorized Boston University to release their Degree(s), Honors, and Awards received, as part of their Directory Information, under the guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
To update the release/restriction of your Directory Information or to verify/update your home address, you should sign on to the Student Link and select the Personal Tab. You should also use this link if you wish to change your FERPA data restriction.
Hometown News releases will be sent out approximately six weeks after graduation. Please note that while a release is sent out by the University, there is no guarantee that it will be printed. The decision to print a graduation notice is the responsibility of the editor of that particular newspaper.
