The 128th Commencement of Boston University will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Nickerson Field, and will last about two hours.

This ceremony is held outdoors; please check the forecast and be prepared for changeable weather as necessary. Seating at Nickerson Field is on a first-come, first-served basis. As some 20,000 guests are expected to attend this event, it is recommended that graduates and their guests read and be guided by the information on this Web site.

This guide has been prepared in an effort to anticipate as many questions as possible. As Commencement approaches, graduates and their parents will receive additional and more specific information. We welcome your inquiries as other questions arise; call 617/353-2238 or e-mail AskUs@bu.edu.

Commencement is a rite of completion. The 2001 Commencement weekend is full of special events honoring the achievement of the graduates and expressing the pleasure, excitement, and pride of their families, their teachers, and their friends. In addition, May 18-20 is also Boston University's Alumni Reunion Weekend. Many of these events are open to graduates and their guests, and tickets for these events may be ordered directly from the Reunion Office. For more information, visit the Reunion Web or call 617-353-2248.
