DEVAL PATRICK

Democratic Celebration

BOSTON- When Deval Patrick’s victory was announced to Democratic supporters at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, last night, the party was just getting started.

Deval Patrick’s youngest supporters

BOSTON – Some of Deval Patrick’s youngest supporters crowded up against the front barricade at the Democratic Party, dancing to the music and chatting excitedly, proudly displaying fluorescent green T-shirts that proclaimed their efforts in getting out the vote.

Grassroots headquarters

BOSTON- Eileen Kenner looked a little out of place at Deval Patrick headquarters at the Hynes Convention Center last night. Dressed in a white hospital coat, her white hair spilled out from beneath an American flag hair bonnet.

KERRY HEALEY

“We should all applaud”

BOSTON- Less than two hours after polls had closed, a defeated but positive Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey conceded to her Democratic opponent Deval Patrick and bowed out gracefully.

CHRISTY MIHOS

Reserved Ending For Raucous Campaign

BOSTON - For a raucous campaign, the ending was sedate.
About 150 staffers and volunteers for independent gubernatorial candidate Christy Mihos gathered Tuesday night to quietly clink wine glasses, polish off petit fours and dumplings, and watch the multiple television screens at the Radisson Hotel ballroom.

GRACE ROSS

Victory In Voters, Even In Defeat

BOSTON – The handwritten signs at the door proclaimed this as the spot for the Green-Rainbow Party’s - “Victory Celebration.” But for gubernatorial candidate Grace Ross and a couple dozen of supporters gathered Tuesday night in Roxbury the party was over before it started.

BALLOT QUESTIONS

Three statewide ballot questions went down to defeat

BOSTON - Don’t look for Cabernet Sauvignon in your local supermarket anytime soon.

Massachusetts voters rejected a ballot question that would allow food stores to sell wine. In a come-from-behind victory, the Vote No On 1 campaign triumphed by highlighting concerns it would lead to increases in drunken driving and underage drinking.

QUESTION 1

The wine was flowing as the group hoping for the passage of Question 1 toasted each other in a Westin Copley Hotel ballroom Tuesday evening. But their efforts to win the right to sell wine in supermarkets were unsuccessful.
