Pulitzer VideosCOM's celebration of its Pulitzer Prize-wining alumni was a unique and unprecedented event in that it brought leaders from various threads of journalism together to discuss the issues affecting their industry. The Hugo Shong Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism ceremonyEach year, through the College of Communication, BU alumnus Hugo Shong COM'90, GRS'92, awards a lifetime achievement award to a journalist whose body of work and contributions to the field exemplify the highest quality of reporting and analysis. The Rules of Engagement: Advocacy and Emotion in Journalism and the PressAfter viewing a clip of CNN anchor Anderson Cooper's interview with Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, BU alumni Steve Kurkjian, Helen Ubinas, and Mark Thompson comment on the role of a journalist and discuss the praise and perils they face in using advocacy and emotion to convey the truth and connect with the public.
