Dan Bricklin is currently president of Software Garden, Inc., a small consulting firm and developer of software applications that he founded in 1985. Mr. Bricklin is best known for co-developing VisiCalc, the first electronic spreadsheet, while he was a student at the Harvard Business School. VisiCalc is widely credited for fueling the rapid growth of the personal computer industry. Mr. Bricklin holds a BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science from MIT and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Newbury College, and was elected to be a member of the National Academy of Engineering.

C.C. Chapman, Digital Marketing Manager for Babson College, is also a Boston-based filmmaker, father and all around web freak. Fueled by a passion for new media, he jumped into podcasting with both feet as the host and producer of two popular PodShow music podcasts - Accident Hash and The U-Turn Cafe. C.C.'s opinions as a podsafe music advocate have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe and on ABC and FOX news programs.

Ethan Fassett is product manager, multimedia search, for Yahoo! Inc. He is responsible for leading the product strategy behind Yahoo!'s Audio Search, Video Search and Podcast products. With extensive industry experience in multimedia search applications, Ethan's knowledge and expertise ensure that Yahoo!'s latest multimedia search offerings are a compelling combination of core functionality requirements and innovative new technologies.

John Federico is the Senior Director of Business Development and general manager of the podcasting business unit at Audible, Inc. Prior to Audible, John's career has focused on developing media and marketing businesses for companies like Advance Internet, NJ.com, NetCreations (now ReturnPath), MarketSource (now Youth360), and MaMaMedia. John holds a dual-track degree in Marketing Communications & Broadcast Production from Marist College.

Paul Figgiani is the creator and producer of The Point Podcast and PodcastRigs.com. Paul is the Production Engineer for IT Conversations.





John Furrier is the host of the Infotalk Podcast at Podtech.net as well as the Founder & CEO of BroadDev.com, a Palo Alto based new venture development and consulting company. Since 2001 John has incubated and developed new ventures assisting both newly formed and growing companies to develop new products, revenue models, market entry plans, and sales growth strategies. John’s market focus is in search, online advertising, IP networking, broadband wireline & wireless, social networking, and real time Internet (RSS, blogs, podcasting, new "new" media). Before BroadDev, John was the Vice President of the Product Group and Vice President of Strategic Development for RealNames, an Internet search and naming company. From 1996-1999 John was the founder and CEO of Labrador Software one of the original paid keyword search and navigation companies. John also has experience at large technology companies, having started his career and spent 9 years at Hewlett-Packard in various technical, marketing, and sales roles. John has an MBA from Babson College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University.

Steve Garfield is an independent Boston-based video producer, editor and videoblogger and a leader in the citizen media revolution. Steve is the Boston correspondent for Rocketboom.com and his popular videoblog site features The Carol and Steve Show and vlogosphere tour-guide site Vlog Soup. Steve blogs about pop culture and technology at Off On A Tangent and covers videoblogging news for WeAreTheMedia.com.

Michael Geoghegan, is a consultant, author, and entrepreneur who is widely regarded as one of the podcasting pioneers. Michael's company, Willnick Productions, developed some of the first corporate podcasts, including the official podcast of the Disneyland Resort. Michael's other podcasts include "Reel Reviews: Films Worth Watching," a show dedicated to the discussion of feature films available on home video, and "Grape Radio," a top-rated podcast about wine. He is also co-author of "Podcast Solutions: The Complete Guide to Podcasting." Michael’s newest venture is PrivaCast, a first-of-its-kind enterprise level solution for secure corporate and organizational podcasting. Michael speaks frequently on podcasting's impact on new media and its corporate applications. He has been featured as a podcasting expert for dozens of media outlets including The New York Times, USA Today, CNN, NPR, and Wired Magazine.

Tony Kahn brings many award-winning talents to his duties on The World. Kahn has written, produced, narrated and hosted more than 50 radio and television programs and series for the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), National Public Radio (NPR), Nickelodeon, A&E, Monitor Radio, and Boston television stations WGBH and WCVB. In addition to his work with The World, Kahn is a regular panelist on WGBH/NPR's weekly witty word game show, Says You! He has been a regular commentator for Public Radio International's Marketplace and NPR's Morning Edition. He graduated Magna cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University and holds a Master's Degree in Slavic Studies from Columbia University.

Doug Kaye is the founder of the Podcast Academy, IT Conversations, and the Conversations Network. Doug started IT Conversations which is a listener- and underwriter-supported network of high-end tech talk-radio interviews, discussions and presentations from major conferences delivered live and on-demand via the Internet. Doug launched IT Conversations in June 2003 and still produces many of the site's programs.In what seems to him like a previous lifetime, Doug was a recording engineer and sound editor in film and television. After mixing one too many TV commercials and English dubs of Lina Wertmuller films he made a break to the software industry. After another 18 years as an IT entrepreneur/CEO, he successfully worked his way down the corporate ladder and served as CTO/VP Engineering of four dot-com startups: one successful IPO, two shutdowns, one still on life support.

Alex Laats is President of BBN's Delta Division. In this role, Alex is leveraging BBN's existing technology and expertise to generate and manage profitable business opportunities in new markets. Alex has started, funded and advised technology businesses since the early 1990s. Prior to joining BBN, Alex was a Venture Partner at Commonwealth Capital, an early stage venture capital firm, where he specialized in the areas of enterprise information technology and communications infrastructure. Previously, Alex was president, CEO and co-founder of Informio, Inc., a provider of VoiceXML services for large enterprises. Prior to founding Informio, Alex was the chairman, COO and co-founder of NBX Corporation, a manufacturer of VoIP-based business communications systems. NBX Corporation was successfully acquired by 3Com Corporation. Prior to NBX, Alex was a technology licensing officer at MIT, where he was involved with multiple start-up businesses based on MIT technology. Alex started his career aas a corporate attorney at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault in Boston. Alex has a J.D. from Harvard and physics and math degrees from MIT.

Peter Levitan is the President & CEO of Ralston360 (www.ralston360.com) a twenty year old full service advertising agency with offices in Bend, Oregon and San Francisco. Prior to joining Ralston360, Peter served as the President and CEO of ActiveBuddy, an instant messaging technology company whose clients included Intel, AOL-Time Warner, Frito Lay and Capitol Records’ bands including Radiohead. Many know ActiveBuddy by its bot SmarterChild. In 1995 Peter launched the award-winning New Jersey Online for Advance Publications where he held the position of President & CEO. In 1999, the Newspaper Association of America named Peter its "New Media Pioneer". Among his Web development clients are such well-known brands as Nabisco, VISA and Microsoft. Before discovering the Internet in 1994, Peter spent 16 years managing Fortune 500 advertising accounts at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising Worldwide. He held a variety of positions including European Director in London, General Manager of the Minneapolis office, and Senior Vice President in New York. His clients included Johnson & Johnson, General Mills, Hanes, Northwest Airlines and BMG Music.

Richard Lucic is the Associate Department Chair, Director of External Relations, and Associate Professor of the Practice of Computer Science at Duke University, as well as the Curriculum Director for the program in Information Science + Information Studies (ISIS). Richard's research seeks to advance the practice and contribution of the computer science discipline. His interests include the design and development of web-based tools for the support of teaching and learning and for the effective dissemination of information. He has participated in the research, development, and implementation of new innovative technology management and transfer methodologies. In managing external relations for the Department of Computer Science, Richard ensures effective collaborations with other academic researchers, develops mutually beneficial interactions with Industrial Partners, and acquires research funding from government agencies and private foundations. These activites provide a mechanism to ensure the relevance and quality of the Department's research and teaching and generate the necessary funding for Duke Computer Science to compete effectively with other universities as a national resource for research contributions and the production of the highest quality graduates.

David J. Malan is the instructor of Harvard Extension School's Computer Science E-1: Understanding Computers and the Internet, the first course at Harvard to be Podcasted in its entirety in both audio and video formats. A graduate of Harvard College and current PhD candidate at the same. Outside of academia, David has worked as a forensic investigator for the Office of the Middlesex District Attorney, has served as Assistant CTO of AirClic Inc., and is the founder of both Crimson Tutors, a local tutoring company, and Diskaster, a data-recovery firm.

Mark McCrery is the CEO of Podtrac. Prior to founding Podtrac, Mark was a founder and senior executive for three companies which completed successful acquisitions. Mark was the COO for AperServ Technologies, a performance measurement company that was acquired by Response Networks. Mark served as Chief Marketing Officer for Liquidity Link, a company developing a Commercial Paper trading platform that was successfully acquired by Reuters. And Mark's company Interactive Financial Services was acquired by Intuit. In addition, Mark managed radio, print, television and Internet advertising campaigns for Grey Advertising in New York, and various smart phone marketing and product development programs for US Order. Mark has a Bachelors of Science in economics from Ohio State University.

Sasha Norkin is a professor at Boston University's College of Communication; and an Internet, wireless and media consultant. She was part of the founding team at Infoplease.com, acquired by Pearson Education, and AnyDay.com, acquired by Palm. She managed wireless content partnerships and direct marketing for Palm and was part of the executive management team at New England Television as well as executive producer at Hearst Argyle's WCVB-TV, Boston, and stations in San Francisco, Connecticut and Florida. Sasha teaches a wide range of broadcast journalism and multimedia courses at Boston University and is focusing on the rise of citizen journalism and podcasting and how it is impacting the future of news.

Zachary Pogue is the system administrator of the Jenkins Collaboratory at Duke University. Zach recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in Human Biology from Stanford University with honors research focusing on the field of telemedicine/telesurgery. Previously, Zach was the system administrator for the John S. Knight Fellowship Program for Journalism and a Residential Computing Consultant (RCC) at Stanford. Other research interests include medical imaging/astrobioinformatics, new digital media/video games, and the emerging field of social entrepreneurship/social innovation. Zach has designed and assembled the Jenkins Lab space in the John Hope Franklin Center, which functions as a professional video and audio editing suite, as well as a podcast station with high-speed scanning and digitization capabilities.

Jake Shapiro is Executive Director of the Public Radio Exchange (PRX), a nonprofit web-based service for distribution, review, and licensing of radio programs. Prior to helping launch PRX in 2003, Jake served as Associate Director of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School, where he oversaw projects related to intellectual property, digital media, and Internet architecture. He remains a Berkman Center Fellow. Jake has worked as a producer with The Connection, a nationally distributed call-in talk show from WBUR in Boston. He serves on the boards of the Association of Independents in Radio, Open Source Media (producers of Open Source with Christopher Lydon from PRI), the Integrated Media Association, and the Conversations Network.
