2006 REDSTONE EAST WINNERS

On Wednesday, February 15th, 2006, more than 550 people gathered at the Tsai Performance Center at Boston University to screen eight films selected by a panel of judges to represent the best work from the Department of Film & Television. At the conclusion of the screening, the winners were announced and the following awards were given to the student filmmakers. The winners were as follows:

  • 1st Place ($2,000): Brett Jutkiewicz, Sam Lisenco, Dan Samiljan & Josh Safdie for We’re Going to the Zoo.
  • 2nd Place ($1,000): Kevin McCarthy for The Bowlers.
  • 3rd Place ($500 — Tie): Kyle Graffam for A Kind of Screaming and Todd Davis for In the Tradition of My Family.

The winners were decided by a panel of judges, which included one of Boston's most important film curator's, a leading film critic, and an award-winning film director.

  • Bo Smith, Film Curator, Museum of Fine Arts
  • Wesley Morris, Film Critic, The Boston Globe
  • Maureen Foley, Director (Home Before Dark)

Two of the winning films were made by undergraduates (We’re Going to the Zoo and A Kind of Screaming, and two were made by graduate students (The Bowlers and In the Tradition of My Family).

2006 REDSTONE WEST WINNERS

On Thursday, March 9th, 2006, a packed house gathered at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood to screen the winners of this year’s Redstone West Film Festival. The winners were as follows:

  • 1st Place ($1,000): Todd Davis for In the Tradition of My Family.
  • 2nd Place ($750): Brett Jutkiewicz, Sam Lisenco, Dan Samiljan & Josh Safdie for We’re Going to the Zoo.
  • 3rd Place ($500): Kyle Graffam for A Kind of Screaming.

The verdicts were decided by a panel of judges drawn from across the motion picture industry:
