Garland Waller is an award-winning producer-writer-director of nationally syndicated and local television and film programs. Her most recent national productions included the 26 part series Your Child 6-12, Rose Kennedy: An Intimate Portrait, and The Kennedy Women: An Intimate Portrait for Lifetime Television. Currently, Waller is producing an independent documentary with the working title of Small Justice:Little Justice in America's Family Courts. She is overseeing a companion web site for this documentary which is under consideration at Court TV. Talks with A&E and Coffey-Ballentine continue as well. Waller's proposal for Spiritual Parenting, a TV series with interstitials, is under consideration at Odyssey Network. As a professor at Boston University in the College of Communication, Waller teaches several producing classes as well as children's television and TV Drama. She also created Hothouse Productions, a class that operates as a production company with students completing client-driven programs and videos. She worked with students to create this companion web site for Hothouse Productions.
Hothouse Productions' clients include Harvard University, First Night, the Department of Public Health and the Museum of Science as well as video production companies in the Boston area. Waller's awards for producing television documentaries, entertainment specials, and children's programs include:
One of her companies, Pink Bubble Productions creates children's programming and products. Pink Bubble Productions produced a nationally award-winning music video for pre-schoolers which originally aired on WCVB and is distributed by MVP Home Entertainment. Waller also co-authored Drawing Angels Near, published by Simon and Schuster/Pocket Books, November 1995.It was a Literary Guild and Crossings Book Club selection. Excerpts appeared in Family Circle and Woman's World. Waller has appeared on New England Cable News (NECN), WBZ, WHDH,WCVB evening news programs and WBUR radio commenting on children's television. She has also appeared on WHDH and WGBH's Greater Boston commenting on television and popular culture. |
