The special programs at COM let students focus on special interests or spend a semester off-campus exploring the world.


Los Angeles Internship Program

The offers students a semester of study and work in film, television, public relations or entertainment management/law.


Washington, D.C., Journalism Program

Graduate and undergraduate journalism students spend a semester in Washington, D.C., meeting newsmakers, working in the bureaus of national news organizations, reporting on Congress and the federal government for New England news outlets and studying political reporting in the city where national news is made every day.


London Internship Program

Now in its 25th year, the London Internship Program offers a semester of study and work in England’s exciting capital city. For COM students, the program has tracks in advertising, arts and media, journalism and public relations.


Boston University State House Program

The Boston University State House Program offers real-world experience producing content for some 15 Massachusetts daily newspapers, websites and radio stations. Students come away with experience and confidence in their abilities to produce content on state government and politics in a challenging, deadline environment.

Sydney Film Festival

Sydney Film Festival and Internship Program

Students have the opportunity to spend eight weeks studying contemporary film, complete an internship in film & television, and participate in the annual Sydney Film Festival.

Sydney Internship Program

Students complete one required course, two electives, and spend the final eight weeks in internships with organizations in the greater Sydney area, working full time, four days per week.

Students have the opportunity to study and produce travel writing in both the creative and the professional forms of the genre.
