Undergraduate Degree in Journalism

Undergraduate journalism students at Boston University combine a solid liberal arts background with pre-professional education to prepare for careers as writers, reporters, editors and producers for newspapers, magazines, radio, television and online newsrooms and other new media outlets. Journalism majors therefore take a majority of their courses in disciplines outside COM (usually in the College of Arts & Sciences).

Designing Your Track

With our large selection of courses available, journalism students have the opportunity to take classes in the areas that interest them. We offer classes focused on magazine, sports and multimedia journalism, along with classes in political reporting. This allows students to get a journalism degree that is specifically geared toward where they want to go after Boston University. Students work with their faculty advisors to design their ideal program through focus areas.
