Students in the Business and Economics Journalism program have the opportunity to work in a variety of finance-focused journalism internships. In the past, these have included the following:

The Associated Press

Interns for the Associated Press experience a varied and ever-changing environment; no two days are alike. There are opportunities to specialize in business, sports, politics, entertainment and many other areas. The Associated Press seeks to recruit and retain a workforce that embodies a wide range of talents, experiences, achievements and journalistic skills.

Bloomberg News

Bloomberg News interns will gain hands-on experience reporting and writing for the print department of one the world’s leading financial news services. Working with over 1,500 print journalists in 146 news bureaus around the world, interns will contribute to coverage of financial markets, companies and economies. Successful applicants will produce breaking news stories under deadlines.

The Wall Street Journal

Internships are aimed at undergraduates or recent graduates who intend a career in journalism. The selection process is highly competitive and most of those chosen have had prior internships with other newspapers as well as extensive experience on a campus newspaper.

The Dow Jones Newswires

Interns with Dow Jones Newswires work closely with reporters and editors to deliver prompt, accurate reporting of business and financial news. During the 10-week program, interns write market commentary and forward-looking features, analyze market data and generally hone their journalistic skills by working with the various news teams to cover the financial markets.

The Boston Globe

Summer interns work as full-time employees for twelve weeks, between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Interns are paid a weekly wage, and shifts vary. An intern supervisor serves as a writing coach and there are weekly meetings with editors and staff members on a range of issues and topics pertaining to journalism.

Financial Times

The aim of each newsroom internship is to give the applicant a practical and otherwise privileged insight into the world of FT business journalism. The program as a whole allows candidates to work with some of the highest caliber journalists in the field on a multi-edition global publication. This program is designed to expose interns to the functioning of a 24-hour global newsroom.

Other opportunities include: The Boston Herald, CFO Magazine, Worcester Telegram & Gazette, Boston Business Journal, The Quincy Patriot Ledger, Reuters and the Reed Business Publications.
