Susan Blau directs the College of Communication's Writing Program and Writing Center. Her background is in education, linguistics, and composition theory.

She has presented workshops and talks on writing theory and practice, and she has published articles in composition studies and writing center theory in national journals. Blau is the co-author of the writing textbook, Writing in the Works. She was a National Endowment for the Humanities fellow.
