Professor Doherty, a two-time finalist for the Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching, teaches a variety of film production courses including a new course on the narrative documentary. She's also an award-winning freelance editor, director and cinematographer. Recent productions include a short film for former VP Al Gore, a feature-length documentary on organized religion and a short experimental documentary on rapid land-use change in China. Currently, she is co-directing and shooting a feature documentary on modern-day Canterbury Tales as well as a four-year film project following three young dancers in Cuba.
