Situation

Red Sox Foundation participated in PRoBono 2015 to gain ideas for its 2015 #GivingTuesday campaign. This relatively new “holiday,” the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is growing into a viral phenomenon. Red Sox Foundation was looking for ways to improve their fundraising efforts on this one day.

Solution

After meeting with the client, the team, comprised of both PRLab and AdLab students, worked all night to develop a comprehensive social media campaign, create an email blast to encourage donors to give on #GivingTuesday, generate three concepts/ideas for a publicity/awareness campaign, and design an infographic and logo to be used in all marketing efforts.

Results

Red Sox Foundation implemented the PRoBono “Countdown” campaign concepts and exceeded the 2014 results by more than 400%. The team’s efforts also garnered a Silver Bell Award from the Publicity Club of New England and won the Community/Nonprofit Partnership category
in PR Daily’s Nonprofit PR Awards.
