Academic Programs:

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Junior Fellows Program
One-year fellowship to uniquely qualified graduating seniors. Carnegie Junior Fellows work as research assistants to the Endowment’s senior associates.

City of Boston Scholarship Fund
Students who have been living in Boston for at least two years can apply for a scholarship.
 

Josephine De Karman Fellowship
The purpose of this fellowship program is to recognize and assist students whose scholastic achievements reflect professor von Karman’s high standards. Undergraduates entering their senior year are eligible.

Soros New American Fellowship
College Senior or graduate
The purpose of The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is to provide opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields. Undergraduate seniors and graduates with bachelor degrees are eligible.

Advertising

AdUnity’s Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP):
A 10-week paid summer internship program for Asian/Asian American or Pacific Islander, Latino/Hispanic, Black/African American, American Indian/Native American, or Multiracial aspiring advertising students. Must have junior/senior/graduate student standing.

Combined Professions:

Health Leads Boston Fellowship
Mobilizing the nation’s undergrads to break the link between poverty and poor health.
Here in Boston, HL volunteers run five programs: Codman, Dimock, BMC Birth Center, BMC Ob/Gyn, and BMC Peds. These programs staff desks in clinics that connect families with resources — food, housing, childcare, job training, and more — to address the non-medical needs that impact their children’s health. These programs achieve real results for families, and promote a vision for a more effective, more just health care system for this country.
Work at the Boston Medical Center or a community health center for 20 hours per week, participate in Social Change Seminars, and work on other projects. Housing and some meals provided.

Peter Agris Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship awarded annually to several young Greek-Americans pursuing studies in the fields of journalism or communications.

CDS Fellowships Abroad
CDS offers a number of opportunites, including the Alfa Fellowship Program, the Congress-bundestag Youth Exchange For Young Professionals Program, the Émigré Memorial German Internship Program, the Halle Foundation Fellowship Program, the Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program, the Transatlantic Renewable Energy Fellowship, and the Baden-Württemberg STIPENDIUM “Work Immersion Study Program.”

David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarships & Graduate Fellowships
Multiple opportunities for international study.

Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst Annual Grant Program:
Offers multiple opportunities and financial assistance to students in the United States and Canada to study in Germany.

U.S. Fulbright Program:
A variety of programs for students, faculty, professionals, and administrators.

George J. Mitchell Scholarships
This opportunity offers students the chance to spend one year of post-graduate study in Ireland.

Marshall Scholarship:
Finances high-achieving, young Americans to study in the UK for a graduate degree following graduation.

SSRC’s Abe Fellowship for Journalists:
International Reporting on Topics of Pressing Global Concern (Japan)

Village Voice Media Fellowships
The purpose of the program is to identify writers who have the potential to become full-time staff writers.
Writing fellowships are six-month jobs. Most fellows hired either have a master’s degree or at least a year of practical journalistic experience outside school.

 Journalism

ACES Scholarships
College juniors, seniors and graduate students who have demonstrated an interest in and aptitude for copy editing can apply for several scholarships awarded each year by the ACES Education Fund, an affiliate of the American Copy Editors Society.

Hearst Fellowships
Fellows can expect to write stories, shoot and produce their own videos, blog and use social media to raise awareness of their work. The program last 18 months.

Metcalf Institute for Marine & Environmental Reporting Fellowships and Workshops
Offers Annual Workshops and Fellowships for Journalists, Environmental Reporting Fellowships, and Climate Change and Business Reporting Fellowships.

Pulliam Journalism Fellowship
The Indianapolis Star and The Arizona Republic, Gannett Co. newspapers, are seeking college students and new graduates with a talent for reporting, news design and graphics, or photojournalism for an exciting and demanding journalism fellowship program.

Reynolds Fellowship in Community Journalism
Annual fellowship offered to journalists who are U.S. citizens and who work at U.S. daily and weekly newspapers with a circulation less than 50,000. (Also Web journalists)

Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism
The Carter Center Mental Health Program in Atlanta, GA provides six one-year
fellowships for U.S. journalists to report on a selected topic regarding
mental health or mental illnesses. The Fellowships are designed to increase
accurate reporting on mental health issues and decrease incorrect,
stereotypical information. Each journalist awarded will receive a $10,000
stipend.

SSRC’s Abe Fellowship for Journalists:
The Abe Fellowship for Journalists is designed to encourage in-depth coverage of topics of pressing concern to the United States and Japan through individual short-term policy-related projects.

Stone & Holt Weeks Fellowship
The Fellowship was created in memory of Stone and Holt Weeks by NPR and The Washington Post following their tragic deaths. Designed to give a promising individual the opportunity to launch a career in journalism, the fellowship consists of two sessions: 12 weeks at The Washington Post followed by 12 weeks at NPR in Washington, to learn how to report for print, web and radio.

Public Relations:

Coro Fellows Program
Full-time, nine month leadership training program in Public Affairs. It is offered in Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and St. Louis.

PR Week’s Hill & Knowlton Student of the Year Award
The competition invites undergraduates from any academic area to create a full-fledged communications campaign around a brand or company.

 Radio and Television

Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
The Summer Internship Program provides more than 40 industry-wide internships to college and graduate students from across the country, and has been hailed for more than a decade as one of the top ten internships in the country. The program is designed to provide college students with in-depth exposure to professional television production during an eight-week summer period in Los Angeles.

College Television Awards: The College Television Awards is a nationwide competition recognizing excellence
in college student produced video, digital and film production. Also offers special honors, like the Focus on Diversity and Gender Equality in Children’s Media Award, The Loreen Arbus Focus on Disability Scholarship, the Seymour Bricker Family Humanitarian Award, and the Directing Award.

Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship
Four scholarships, in the amount of $10,000 each, will be awarded to qualified applicants. In addition to the monetary award, successful applicants are mentored by children’s programming professionals during the academic year. Must include a plan for the scholarship money.

International Radio and Television Society Foundation Summer Fellowship
Fellows gain full-time “real world” experience at New York-based media corporations. Juniors, seniors, and graduate students are eligible.
